"Direction of course-setting
Magnetic compass bearings taken between pairs of fixed points and corrected to the true bearing of the west wall show that the tower has a distinct left hand spiral from bottom to top; this seems likely to happen if courses are laid from right to left. This spiral is clearly visible in plan (Fig.30)." (Azimuty pomocí magnetického kompasu mezi páry fixních bodů ... ukazují, že věž má zřetelnou spirálu odspoda nahoru...)

Já bych jako laik taky použil olovnici, nebo nějaký theodolid, laser nebo foťák, kompas je to poslední, co by mě napadlo.
